Winter / spring workshops
Sandbed Sculpting - create designs in the sand that are carved into glass at high temperatures. This is a playful technique that can easily accommodate both improvisation and fine detail, and can capture texture and gesture. Wednesday Jan. 8, 6 - 9 pm; OR, Saturday Jan. 11, 1-4 pm. $98, includes materials.
Dish It Up in Glass - Learn the basics of fusing and slumping while you make a beautiful dish. Saturday Jan. 18, 1 - 4 pm. $85, includes materials.
Candle Sconce in Glass - Use special materials to create an embossed design in glass, then we'll bend it into a sconce shape. Saturday Jan. 25, 1 - 3:30 pm. $85, includes materials.
Organic Glass Casting - Turn fruits, vegetables, seeds, wood into glass. You'll learn to make molds, cast several pieces in glass and coldwork your final pieces in this fun and unique three-part workshop. Three sessions: Wednesday Feb. 5, 6 - 9 pm; Saturday Feb. 8, 1-4 pm; Saturday Feb. 15, 10 am - 12 pm. $275 plus materials (usually $25 to $70).
Sandblasting Glass - Learn to design glass projects then blast away, using salvaged glass to make art. Saturday March 8, 1 - 3:30 pm. $78, includes materials.
Make a Glass X Cube - In this one-day workshop with instructor Cody "Mr. Facet" Rosenberg, you'll get the essentials of hand faceting and learn to make and polish a colorful 1" cube using laminated and crosscut borosilicate and dichroic glasses. The cube is entirely coldworked and you'll take it home that day. Saturday March 22, 9:30 am - 4:30 pm. $190, includes materials.
Glass Casting from Clay - make a sculpture in glass, from start to finish, in this exclusive three-part workshop. We'll start with a clay form that you shape and carve, then learn to hand-build a mold and cast glass in it. You'll also learn basic coldworking to finish the piece. Three sessions: Wednesday April 2, 6:30-8 pm; Saturday April 5, 10 am - 3 pm and Saturday April12, 10 am - 2 pm. $325 plus materials (usually $40 to $80)
Creating with Bottle Glass - Get the essentials of using bottles to make art, dishes, cups, and other fun projects. You'll learn about safety, assessing glass, compatibility, and firing schedules, and choose two from four projects using bottle glass. Saturday April 26, 10 am - 2 pm. $98, includes materials.
Cancellation policy: Fused Light Studio reserves the right to cancel any workshop due to low enrollment or unanticipated circumstances. If a workshop is canceled, your registration will be refunded or transferred as a credit for any other studio learning. You may cancel a workshop for any reason for a refund minus processing fees until one week prior. Cancellations made within 7 days of the scheduled workshop are non-refundable unless your spot is filled by someone on the waiting list.
